Wicke is investing in an automated central warehouse at the Sprockhövel site, which is being implemented in cooperation with Jungheinrich.
Sprockhövel, May 2025 – Wicke GmbH + Co. KG has commissioned Jungheinrich to implement a state-of-the-art, automated central warehouse at its headquarters in Sprockhövel (North Rhine-Westphalia). With this future-oriented investment, we are creating the basis for an even more efficient supply of our production and at the same time sustainably optimizing our internal logistics processes.
As an internationally active manufacturer of industrial wheels, tires and axles, we are responding to our continuous growth and the increasing demands on our intralogistics with the construction of the new high-bay warehouse in silo design. The new warehouse infrastructure will significantly improve the flow of materials between the warehouse and production and thus make a decisive contribution to further increasing our performance.
Automated efficiency on several levels
The new central warehouse of Wicke GmbH + Co. KG extends to an area of more than 3,500 square meters and at a height of 25.5 meters reaches the dimension of an eight-storey high-rise building. It is complemented by a handling building, which integrates goods receipt, output, picking and packaging processes on two levels. In addition, the building includes social and office space.
With a system performance of 150 double runs per hour, the warehouse offers a high throughput capacity and is therefore optimally designed for two-shift operation. The direct connection to existing production buildings significantly minimizes transport routes and significantly optimizes material flow. In a second construction phase, the connection of another production building is also planned.
The management emphasizes: By automating our central warehouse, we are realizing a powerful and future-oriented solution that significantly increases our efficiency. This project also highlights the strategic relevance of modern, automated logistics systems for a scalable, sustainable and future-oriented production supply.
Comprehensive solution from a single source
In our new logistics center, we use the latest technology to make processes more efficient and future-proof. We are installing seven stacker cranes for double-depth pallet storage, the entire conveyor technology including PLC and visualisation as well as a silo rack with roof and wall cladding, sprinkler system and fire protection gates. The system is complemented by an integrated warehouse management system, which enables smooth control of all stock and material flows.
Now that Wicke GmbH + Co.KG is a strategic partner and long-standing supplier of wheels and rollers for Jungheinrich industrial trucks, we are benefiting from the automation solution of the Hamburg-based company.
Our close cooperation with Jungheinrich results in a state-of-the-art intralogistics solution that optimally combines efficiency, sustainability and future security. Completion of the new central warehouse is planned for June 2027.
